Salon in Portland...

I know a few of you were part of a post a little while back on hair salons in the area...I finally took the plunge and went to Ferricchia in Portland.  The haircuts range from $42-53 and I got a pretty drastic cut done and it was only $42, so that was a pleasant surprise.  The stylist was really sweet and friendly, but it wasn't overkill.  They do a full range of color and other processes, but I'm just a wash/cut/blow dry girl, so I can't speak to any of that.

So, in case anyone was still looking, I'd definitely recommend them - they are also next door to Two Fat Cats bakery, down the block from Coffee By Design and across from Micucci, so you have a wide range of deliciousness surrounding you for before or after you go  Smile

Re: Salon in Portland...

  • That's really inexpensive for what I've seen in the Portland area!
  • I was the one hunting for a hair dresser on the cheap!  I ended up going to what looks like an old lady place on Washington 2 minutes from my home and got a nice cut for $30 + tip.  That's my type of price!  The girl who did it is brand new and trying to build up her clientele- I'm happy to go back!

I must have freaked her out though because I called the next Saturday (this past weekend) and she answered the phone.  I said, "Hi, this is Erika.  You cut my hair last Saturday."  You know she probably thought I was calling to say "I hate my haircut- fix it for free."  Not the case though!  The stupid old lady down the street cancelled James' appt for the second time and I wanted his hair cut before Easter.  She was WIDE open so I went right on in and he got a very cute (though overpriced for a toddler) cut.  There were a few old ladies in there too, LOL.

I just can't spend $40-50 plus tip, even if it is something important like my hair.  Which is funny because I put on a full face of makeup everyday, but I couldn't give 2 hoots about my hair!

  • oh, good...I'm happy you found a place!

I was used to paying about $45 + tip previously, so I actually anticipated spending more, so I'm pretty happy - though I used to be pretty lazy about going, so I'd wind up with 6 months between cuts - I just chopped off everything, so I'll be going every 6 weeks now, though they do free touch-ups in between, which is nice...she was also encouraging me to call if I have any styling questions or want anything tweaked in the next week or so

funny that you mention the makeup - I never wear makeup, especially to work, so the hair is all I got going for me...and the stylist was like, "with short hair, you're going to want to play up your eyes" and I'm like, "riiiight..."
