Who likes weather pictures?

Here's some photos of the recent severe weather we've had down here. We've had severe storms every day since Thursday and tomorrow will hopefully be our first day of sunshine.

This is a photo of the funnel cloud forming over Arkansas Tech University (my Alma Mater):

These are some golf courses that are a couple miles away from my house:

This is rotation starting outside our bedroom window last night. Fortunately, it dissapated quickly.

Betcha wish you were here!

Re: Who likes weather pictures?

  • I know I don't! The tornados here in NC a few weeks ago were more than we needed. The devastation is heartbreaking.
  • Call me crazy, but I love severe weather! Thanks for sharing the photos. I'm so intrigued by crazy thunder/lightening storms and tornados. I'm also terrified of tornados, so I couldn't imagine being in your shoes. You've been hit pretty hard this year.
  • to the bathtub!

  • I never used to be scared of tornadoes. I've been around them my whole life - I lived in Oklahoma City until I was 13, and then here. Tornadoes happen every single year.

BUT, it's a lot scarier when you have a child. On Friday night we had a really bad hailstorm and then a tornado went right over our house - I was petrified. I woke her up and we hid in the bathtub. It's a lot scarier and very different when you have another life to protect.

  • I can't even imagine, Ames! That seems too real and too scary.
  • I agree JA! I hate that we can't pass some of this rain your way. We have people losing their lives from flooding and you have people losing their lives from fire. Why can't we just get a balance going?

THIS! I was freaking out last night with our serve weather because to get in our basement we have to go outside and our basement is scary and gross and not somewhere I want to be, let alone take Alex into.  I'm thankful that as far as I've heard there weren't any tornadoes and the power stayed on.  The wind and the lightning were insane though!  We do have some pretty big branches down in our yard but thankfully they didn't hit anything.

Christina, I'm so glad everyone got out okay up there! I was worried about you guys!

Thanks Ames. I don't know how you do it. My nerves were shot last night. I usually love watching.lightning from our big picture window above our bed because it overlooks the valley and we can see for a few miles, but last night I was so scared that I'd see a funnel cloud when the sky was lit up by the lightening that I couldn't enjoy it. Holy run on sentence. Lol
  • We're under a tornado watch as we speak. They're basically rolling in and out all day today. The kids spent most of the morning in the hallway. I'm in my portable now (nice way to say trailer), but as soon as it gets bad again I'm going inside. I'm always a nervous wreck when they're storms and we're in school. It's totally different when we're in charge of someone else's safety. I can't imagine what it feels like when you're a parent. Glad you all are safe.
  • Um, I'm terrified for the safety of my PETS when there's severe weather.  I can't imagine how paranoid I'm going to be when my baby is born.

Seriously, if I'm not home and there's a tornado watch or something, I worry myself sick about the cats and the dog.  The dog is crated in the basement during the day, but the cats like to sleep on the 2nd floor in our bedroom.  Even if I'm home, I grab them and make sure all animals are in the basement.  I'm going to be a freaking insane Mommy when Baby C gets here.
