Particularly if you have an entry level camera body like I do.
The new f/1.8 50 mm has been announced. This will autofocus on entry level cameras.
Oh man, now I'm all kinds of torn on what to buy. I'd have to keep saving for the 1.4, and this I could buy now. Well, pre-order now.

How much longer would it take for you to save for the 1.4? You can't get the new lens until mid-June at the earliest anyway.
I feel a little guilty since DH has spent quite a bit of money on my birthday, but he hasn't (to my knowledge) bought me my new lens so I think I'm going to wait a week after my birthday and buy it myself. I really want it now!

I purchased the 50mm f1.4 for $475. My parents are bringing it out this weekend so it hasn't been opened. Hmm, I wonder if I can return the lens and buy this one?
Ahh, what the hell. I will keep my overpriced lens. The extra f0.4 is worth $250 right? Ha. Yeah, I knew I was over paying when I bought my lens. Being inpatient is expensive.

You got an excellent price for the 1.4. I'd be pleased as punch if I could find it at that price, especially if I had enough cash squirreled away to buy it at the time. I think the .4 probably is worth the $250, but I'm not sure if it's worth $350 or more, kwim?
But, if you do want to sell your 1.4, please put me at the top of your list of buyers.
