Cleaning products for really gross shower

Which cleaning products do you recommend for a really nasty shower?  I need something that will take away all the orange-y and black gunk that has built up in the corners and along the sliding door.

Re: Cleaning products for really gross shower

  • Your cleaner of choice and a pack of these: Nook & Cranny Scrubber.

I use Soft Scrub on our shower.

  • I use soft scrub too but also a 1/3 white vinegar to 2/3 water solution works well on hard water stains.

  • Ours got that bad when I was out with a back injury and my H got pneumonia... the house didn't get cleaned for about 3 or 4 weeks, it was horrifying. I finally treated it like a science experiment, trying to find the right "poison" to kill whatever was growing there.  We tried hot water with a lot of salt in it, which got rid of most of the coloring, then drained it and scrubbed with salt too, that scratched the surface of what didn't wash away after the "salt bath" then I went for low/acid pH with vinegar and lemon juice, which took care of a bit more of the tub discoloration, and then went high/basic pH with some ammonia solution and that took care of the rest of the pinkish/orange staining.  Cleaned up from those two with a spray bottle of water and baking soda mix, and then scrubbed with cream of tarter in the very tight corners on the shelves with a q-tip.  Hasn't been that dirty since, maybe this could work for you if one-step cleaning doesn't?
