XP: Gift ideas

DH's BFF and his GF are moving to Michegan soon.  We're close to them both and we'd like to get them some sort of going away present but I have no idea what to get.  I was thinking some sort of Texas related home decor (Their apartment isn't rustic or anything, just sort of a mish mash of lots of stuff but I thought it would be a nice reminder of home.)  I just don't know what to get them - it doesn't have to be that idea.  He went to UT and is from Austin.  She is from Michegan.  I don't really want to order anything b/c their going away party is Saturday and I'd like to take it then.

Any ideas?  Bonus points if you can tell me where to find it.

  • MH has a framed print of all the unique signs in Austin. Things like Continental Club, Dan's Hamburgers, Ritz theater, etc. His is pretty old, but I know I've seen them around. Maybe try the Austin/Texas themed store in Lakeline Mall. Or maybe one of the mall print/poster places might have it?

  • Parts and Labour on S. Congress has a lot of cute Austin-themed handmade stuff. I got my parents a set of coasters with black and white pictures of Austin landmarks on them from there (the Contintental club, the Capitol, Hill's Cafe, I can't remember what else...). I like that place in general for gifts.
  • there used to be an artist on congress that did ink drawings of Austin landmarks. I got one for a friend years ago, and framed it. They love it, not too overboard and unique. It was at a restaurant that has blue awnings, and inside a salad/bread bar. Sorry cant remember the name.

If I remember correctly the drawing was only like $10-15.
