Curtain Help

I need some curtains for the baby room. I am picturing the teal color from my bedding similar to the belly of this owl:

I would like them to be a sailcloth material w/ blackout lining and preferably not grommet or tab top. Any suggestions on where to look? I've looked online already at BBB, JCP.

A search came up with these but they seem fairly thin and they are tab top, not my first choice.

Re: Curtain Help

  • Did you look at Target or Walmart yet? I've been seeing more bold colored curtains online there.

  • These may work, it is hard to tell if the turquoise is bold enough from the pic online though: http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Solid-Insulated-Thermal-84-L-x-104-W-Blackout-Curtains/2946005/product.html

  • Like the overstock ones, though I think they would be a little too light.

I just found these at Target and they might work, a little thin so I'd probaby have to add a liner to block out light. We only have cellular shades in the room.

  • I like the ones you found at Target.

I will say this, though.  I never even close the blinds in P's room during the day for naps.  She also goes to bed at night before it's dark outside.  She sleeps just fine.  I would maybe see how it goes before you have to sew on your own liner- uless you want a fun crafty project of course.  :)

This!  LO doesn't have curtains, only blinds and I keep them open during the day, so that he knows it is day time.  I didn't want him to mess up his day and nights.

Thanks! I guess they aren't like adults, lol.

I have purchased the blackout material at Joannes before for other curtains in the house. I just used rod clips for the curtains and clipped the material behind it! Works like a charm!

  • You could always look into a roman shade for black out as well.  I know that is not what you are looking for though.

No they are light filtering but not black out.

I know with Brendan he slept better once I got blackout drapes in his room. We just had regular blinds.  I don't blame you for wanting blackout.  If you had blackout cellular shades I'd say you could probably get away w/o the blackout curtains.

I like the ones from Target that you found. I love your color scheme!

  • I went to target last night and picked up those curtains because they had them in store. I think they are a bust. They are more of an aqua color in person, not the darker teal. I did find another curtain there that is the perfect color and blackout but they are not sailcloth and are kind of shiney. I wish I could combine the two!

I might hang one of each and think about it for a few days but I have a feeling they are both going back. I might just end up with white or chocolate brown. Sad
