I am trying to find a hotel for DH and I to stay in when we come up there to visit and look for a place to live.
Can you recommend a nice hotel in the Tampa area? We will be looking at houses in the Brandon/Riverview/Apollo Beach area, but would like to also experience Tampa a bit so probably wanting to stay in the city.
Re: Tampa Hotels
I've heard good things from people who have gotten married at the Embassy Suites and Marriott downtown. They're in a good location too, right near Channelside, where there is shopping, dining, movies, etc. There really isn't much to our downtown after business hours. Ybor City is nearby so I'd check that out too if you have the chance. I aslo recommend taking the tour at the University of Tampa's Plant Hall. I love it there, but I'm kind of biased because I'm also an alum.
I definitely recommend the Embassy Suites in downtown Tampa. It is usually pretty reasonably priced (depending on the time of year) and it's a newer hotel so the rooms are very nice. They are also very large. The hotel has a complimentary happy hour every night with free drinks for all the guests and they have free breakfast every morning - hot breakfast with eggs, bacon, the works. The trolley stop is right outside the hotel and you can take the trolley to Ybor to see different stuff, go to cool restaurants (Acropolis is my favorite) or just see the city. If you hope on the Crosstown Expway you will be to Brandon in minutes.
The only other place that I would rec would be the new Westin on Rocky Point. The benefit of this is it is easy access to Clearwater beaches and there are some cool beachy restaurants nearby like Whiskey Joes, plus it's still really convenient to Tampa.
