I might be in search of a new hairdresser
I have shoulder-length, thin, slight wavy hair with side-swept bangs. I get maybe three cuts a year. I have a person who cuts my hair but I am liking less and less the way the cuts grow in. She's inexpensive and close by to my apartment so it's really convenient, but I think I'm ready to move and even pay a bit more for a cut that I like. I'm willing to go some place in Manhattan or Western/Central Queens. I'm willing to pay over $100 only if they are really good.
Any suggestions?
Re: I might be in search of a new hairdresser
I am also looking for someone new. I am just not liking what my guy is doing with my hair and he moved to M Salon, and I just don't like that place or its vibe.
A couple of friends recommended that I go see Linda at D&L, near the Forest Hills Post Office. http://www.dandlbeautyonline.com/Home.php
I also heard that Lee Martin is very, very good. A friend just started going to her and she looks great. Lee just folded up her shop near 5 burros and is working out of someone else's shop near Dirty Pierre's. I can get contact info for her if you want.
I'm interested! I'm so jaded from my recent haircut experiences. I just tried a new place and paid way too much for the awful haircut I received. Please send me the details!
Hmm, could be interesting! Would you pm me the deets, too, please?! Thanks!
(I posted this over on your F&B thread as well, but love Tom so much I thought I better post here as well)
I go to Tom, owner of Ampersand. He's amazing and opened his own salon a couple of years ago. It's a really tiny place, and I think he's the only stylist but he is seriously a genius. I was referred by a friend and have since referred friends who have referred their friends.
I have fairly straight hair, but my gf who has very very curly hair also goes to him and loves him.
He's on 4th and Ave B, a cut and blow dry is $65.
