pet ladies...
I think we are going to have to give in and bring Miley to the allergist. I was told teh nearest one is by MPLS. do any of you know who this would be and any contact information? I would like to take Miley down soon as she is pretty miserable and itching badly again.

My advisor's dog used to have bad allergies that resulted in itchy hotspots and flare-ups, and I think her dog was just treated/medicated by our general vet (we both go to the same vet here in the St. Paul/Roseville area). But if you're looking for a specialist, the clinic above might be a good option.

We can't seem to narrow down what she is allergic to so we want to do the testing. She is on a LID (nature's balance chicken and sweet potato) and her treats are the lamb ones from NB also. She doesn't get table food. (very often! l ol..darn husbands!) We vacuum daily, "swiffer" mop the floor daily with water and very mild soap mix, stopped using air fresheners, all laundry stuff is now free and clear type ones, so we are running out of ideas.

I know people to take their dog to this clinic at the U - their dog has all kinds of allergies (fragrances, certain food, certain plants, etc.). They seem to like the clinic at the U, they drive from St. Cloud.

If you think it's food related, I highly recommend Lake Harriet Vet. http://www.lakeharrietvet.com/. They practice holistic and traditional medicine and know food, not just the stuff most vets push but raw and home cooked foods. I get the impression they want to get to the bottom of the issue vs. give medication. I won't go into the full story cause I know I've said it here before but my dog has been doing awesome since I went to them for help with food. She was vomiting and had diarrhea and the regular vet was pretty lost. Since I went to Lake Harriet, that's all fine, her arthritis is really mild and this is the first winter in 7 or 8 years that a chronic nail condition hasn't been an issue.

eh...i have family and friends down there also if all else fails.
Or we could do a GTG again. It's been a few years since I got down for one. 
If you are open to raw I would try the raw food for 2-3 months with these 2 products and see if this makes a difference first before going the allergist route. Try adding Animal Essentials Fish Oill Plus and also Animal Essentials Plant Enzymes and Probiotics to the raw. It looks like you can buy them here. http://www.animalessentials.com/#store_locator:North+Dakota Maybe try one of those 2 stores and see if they sell raw at the store. Otherwise, many places will ship to you. Some good brands- Primal, Nature's Variety, Bravo, PawNatural, Dr. Billinghurst Barf Diet, Stella and Chewy's.
I'm not a fan of the vet allergist route. I know too many people with bichons (who are one of the most highly allergic dogs) who have spent tons of $$ on allergy testing, shots, meds, special diet, to have minimal to no success. Just my 2 cents. I'd spend the money going to a holistic vet like Lake Harriet Veterinary or do a phone consult with Dr. Levy at http://holistic-vet-care.com/ or maybe try this holistic vet in Casselton- closet one I could find to you. My aunt's bichon had terrible allergies, was on allergy shots, steroids, special shampoo, special food and none of it was making a difference. He walked around with a cone on his head because he itched constantly. They switched to a raw chicken diet and he was a completely different dog after a few months. Good luck!

Rusty is on a prey model diet. He loves it - however, he has environmental allergies so he's still a bit itchy in the spring/fall. The raw helps a TON with it though.
We also give fish oil - I just buy the Kirkland brand from Costco and that is helpful too.
