The hubs and I are taking a much needed long weekend to KC this weekend and are staying in the Plaza. We used to frequent the Plaza often (before kids) but haven't been back there in awhile. Any suggestions for restaurants? Happy Hour spots? Thanks!

Re: Country Club Plaza
Unfortunately, no the P&L isn't walking distance to the Plaza. We stayed near the P&L, so it was convenient for us. Although I was pregnant, so driving wasn't an issue. There are some awesome lookign restaurants at the Plaza, the overall feel just isn't as urban/cosmopolitan or something. While we were there they were showing the NCAA tourney on the huge big screen, and they often have concerts, etc. It is just a really fun place to hang out outside and drink. We are definitely going back w/ friends when I can have a few. When we were there we ate once at the Irish Pub place and once at a pizza place. I guess if it was me, I'd go out to eat one night at the plaza to a fancy restaurant, and one night to the P&L to have a "fun" night and get a cab back to the hotel? Or, I would do this depending on if there was entertainment lined up for the P&L, which makes it a lot of fun.
Wow...that sounds like a fun time!
) I'm totally jealous.
We went in October and had a really nice time. We stayed at the Residence Inn which was within a block of the Plaza. It was so nice to be able to walk to places, especially late at night. Our room was like a little apartment with a living room and kitchen and the rates were pretty reasonable.
We had a nice dinner at Buca one night and at Jack Stack the next night. We got drinks at 810 Zone, but we were watching football so I'm not sure how the atmosphere is during a non-sporting event.
We've also done the nightlife thing at P&L district and it was really fun. We ate dinner at Gordon Biersch (they have a lot of great in-house brews) and I would definitely suggest the Irish Pub for after dinner drinks!
P&L was too 'club' for me... but I'm not very cool so that's probably why, haha.
If I remember correctly (it's been at least two years) Westport area was in walking distance from the Plaza. Westport is waaay more my style. Totally chill and relaxed. But our hotel was kind of in the middle between the two.
