Fabric store selling sweater knits?

Title kind of says it all.  I am looking for a fabric store that sells stretchy thick sweater knit fabric.  Not cotton, not jersey knit, not upholstery fabric.  Fabrics with texture and thickness, etc.  I am looking for use for newborn sessions, both to wrap babies with and to use as blankets to shoot them on.  I have tried looking up fabric stores but figured someone on here might know right where to go.

Can't say for certain whether or not they sell sweater knits, but the best fabric store I know of anywhere around here is Lorraine Mills, 593 Mineral Spring in Pawtucket. The building itself is a run down old mill building, but it's huge and I have never left disappointed. If you go, make sure you check the 2nd floor discount loft. Most of it is really ugly stuff, or has a rip or stain, but if you can find what you're looking for it's dirt cheap.

  • I'd try either Lorainne mills or RYCO in Lincoln off of Front Street. You could probably call them up and ask. Good luck!

  • I wa sjust at Joann's today too, could have checked it out for ya.  :-)  I have never seen that type of fabric there, but doesn't mean they don't have it. I would just call to see if they have it.

Also, the pics from animal day were so cute!  Paige just loves that day.  last year I could not believe she loved the snake and crocodile.  blech...  I feel so bad about the school, especially for the teachers.  It will be hard for them.   We have been looking for new schools, thinking of doing private K now instaed of teh idea of 3 years of preK and then will go to public in 2 yrs for K again.  I am actually a bit excited about her going to K instaed of being in a 4yr old program for another year when she is old enough to go on.  ok, babbling now  ;)

  • Slim pickings from local fabric stores here.  I haven't seen much of what you're looking for.  There used to be a great fabric store here that would have had some, but unfortunately they're no longer in business.  If you don't need much yardage, buying an extra large sweater and cutting it up might work for what you're looking to do.
  • Thank you!  I could use a sweater for a wrap definitely but would need yardage for any backdrop materials.
