Has anyone ever used those Penny Auction websites?
Like Beezid.com (or any of the others out there.....can't remember their names)? Just curious to see what your experience was. Did you win anything? Is it a big waste of money? I see the commercials on TV and always wonder about them

Re: Has anyone ever used those Penny Auction websites?
I never heard of it either. Must be a middle of nowhere Texas thing to keep you all busy
Just kidding - but I am interested to hear what everyone else says!
ditto!
Really? You guys have never seen the commercials on TV? You probably have just didn't realize what it was.
Go to Beezid.com and check it out.
Basically it's an online auction of different items (cars, tv, ipads, computers, cameras, etc.) and you bid one penny at a time. You have to buy your bids (I think it's 100 bids for $50 or something) and you try to win the auction by being the last bidder. The catch is there is a timer (usually around 12 seconds or so) and if any $0.01 bid is made within this time frame the clock is reset back to 12 seconds. Initially when there is a lot of time left in the auction nobody bids and the prices remain under a dollar. But when the 12 second countdown is on that's when all the bids come in. I watched a $799.00 Cannon camera sell for $38.50. I saw that the same camera sold for $14 earlier today. Another downfall is the bidding process can take hours and if your internet connection is slow you could lose the auction. I thinking bidding in the middle of the night would be the best option.....LOL!
Did my description make sense? Check it out and you will see what I am talking about!!

I think my aunt does this; she buys her granddaughters' Nintendo DSi games on it; I am very wary of gambling, so I don't think it's something I would be doing, per se, but I do know that my Aunt does it.
Its not a Texas thing. I have seen it on T.V. here but usually only see it late at night when I can sleep and watching something on an "off" station.
With that said, my broke a$$ has never checked it out, so I am no help.
