Have you been. . .

. . . asked out since getting married/engaged?

This happened to me yesterday and it was oh-so-awkward!  To be fair, I was wearing latex gloves (I work in a biochem lab), so the guy didn't see my ring.  When I told him I had a husband, he got embarrassed, but I tried to make the best of the situation and had a nice conversation with him (I hate awkward situations).  I think I may set him up with a friend :P  DH thinks that it would be weird to set him up with a friend, but he seems nice enough and I know he's available ;)

Re: Have you been. . .

  • lol :) no I haven't but if he's a good fit for your friend I don't see harm in setting them up. DH and I were tricked out on our first date together and it worked out ok for us!
  • Can't say that I have! I can imagine it's pretty awkward.  I think setting them up may work. Just do it so it's more of a casual thing, i.e., invite both of them to a party you would have, etc.

  • I have not been asked out.  However, (according to DH) I've had someone hit on me in the groccery store.  He was in the baking aisle asking me about something.  I don't even remeber it now, but DH thinks he was hitting on me.

  • I was hardly ever asked out before I got engaged so... no.

Although, I was going through personal training before the wedding. There were a few different guys I worked with depending on who was available at the time. I never wore my ring there since I was lifting weights and stuff. There was one guy I worked with a few times, we would have a nice time chatting and really hit it off. Next time I came in he saw me - another guy was going to help me and he said he would instead. Then he started flirting with me and getting personal. I finally managed to find a way to drop the words "my wedding" into our conversation to take care of that.

  • lol that's pretty funny - and good for you!

when i photograph weddings men seem to like to try and hit on the female photographer...s... my second is also a young female and we frequently get the "oh let's dance" or "hey have a drink on me" from the single, often liquored up men.  lol

    my thoughts exactly!

did you tell DH?  did he find it funny?  I feel bad for the guy tho, that's a pretty awkward situation to recover from...

    Yes, good for you!!

I've been hit on but not asked out, DH thinks its funny, but I too find it pretty awkward.

Yes, I've done that before to make sure they were just being friendly and not flirting.

My DH also really hates awkward situations and felt bad for me when I told him, but still thinks it's weird to invite this guy to a party to casually introduce him to one of my single friends.

  • I think my (married) personal trainer also had some inappropriate intentions with me, and yes he knew I was married. But hey he got arrested for like 10 felonies, too, so there's that. Otherwise no I don't think I've been hit on and definitely haven't been asked out!

As for setting this guy up with your friend, I don't think it's that weird. It's not like he asked you out and you thought he was repulsive and hurt his feelings - you're simply taken! He may even be flattered that you want to set him up. I'm assuming he was asking you out kind of out of the blue because he thought you were attractive and hasn't been lusting after you for years (in which case that may not be such a good match for your friend).

Ha ha, that would be weird!  This was the first real conversation we had, and I don't think he's a creeper :P

  • Well, I haven't been asked out, as mostly all of the people I have interactions with know that I am married, but when I was shopping with a friend once, we walked out of a store and the store clerk (super hottie...oh ya) called her back in and said I was really hott and wanted to know my name...she just barked back that I was married...hehe...talk about a confidence booster! Oh, and when I was engaged a guy at a concert randomly turned around and his jaw dropped and he goes "wow, you have the most beautiful eyes"...I'm sure he was hammered, but it made me smile. hehe! : )

Congrats on your confidence boost, too! Oh, and Jeff just gets territorial about it, so atleast your hubby felt bad for ya! : )
