Xan - Stink Bugs

Look who I found on my car when I got to work today.  I have a 40-45 minute commute where I am often going 50-60 mph, so he must've been holding on for dear life (I park in a parking garage at my office, so there's nowhere that he could've come from when I arrived).

Oh - and excuse the dirt all over my car - I know it's disgusting.

Re: Xan - Stink Bugs

  • Ugh, they are every where I tell ya!  I thought I was winning my battle against them for like a day with the new spray I got, but nope, yesterday I killed 8 in my car.  I am convinced they are living in my doors or something.  I like to go out to my car to read during my lunch break and lately I can't even bring myself to do that for long because they freak me out so bad.  I guess I just need to get over it, but ugh!

I've never seen a green one like that.  The ones around here are all brownish, but there are a bunch of different kinds apparently.  I think I'd prefer to green ones because at least they stand out more...these stupid brown ones hide so easily.

They do hold on so tight!  I had one on the outside of my window the other day driving home, easily going 65mph, and it stuck on there the entire time.  I'm pretty convinced they are going to take over planet earth in a matter of years.

  • Haha!  Yep.  They're pretty rough!

We have the brown ones here, too (and actually, they are even creepier because they're huge and have long creepy bent legs - ew!).  I don't often see the green ones, but every once in a while, I'll find one like I did this morning.

And I don't think I'd be able to bring myself to hang out in my car in that situation either...if it makes you feel better!

  • Ugh, we have a stink bug problem here too! We have the brown ones here with the long bent legs.  I hate them, and we seem to have a bunch this spring.

I was bringing out our patio furniture the other weekend, and we keep the cushions for the chairs inside a large plastic deck box, and when I opened it up to take them out there was a bunch of the brown stink bugs in side. Those suckers were latching onto the cushions as I was trying to sweep them off.  Nasty!

Ugh, I would have shut the lid and said time to buy new furniture lol.  I just killed two during my lunch break that were in my car.  You'd think someone would be able to find a way to get rid of them.  I mean, for gosh sake, they build/invent everything else, you'd think they'd figure something out to kill these stupid bugs.  The bug spray I bought kills scorpions, SCORPIONS, but doesn't bother the stink bugs one bit!
