Is this a stage?

Caroline's appetite has tanked. She barely is finishing her bottles, she has no interested in her purees, finger foods etc. She just sits and looks at the food. She has been waking up in the middle of the night crying and once we give her a bottle she's happy and goes back to sleep. This is totally out of character since she hasn't woken up in the middle of the night once since she was 3 months old. This started around her 1 yr appointment, but has gotten worse since this past weekend. She gets a bit crabby, but for the most part is fine. Not lethargic so I'm not medically worried. Just wondering if this is one of those things that they go through around this time.

  • I know that they are different in ages, but Ridley has days where she is psyched to eat and other days where she hardly eats anything.  I think that all logic goes out the window once they become toddlers.  You basically have to follow their lead.  I worry about sending her to bed hungry sometimes, but I can't force her to eat.  It's really frustrating!

Yup, that's my world!  I don't want to force it and make it a bad experience, but then I have DH going" she needs to eat, blah blah" .

Today, I just put her spoon down and she surprised me and picked it up and ate! Was hoping that would magically work for all meals but today at lunch she wouldn't budge.

  • Taylor hasn't been offered a bottle since we finished up the last of her formula on Saturday am.  She's not eating a ton but she is eating.  I think it's probably a phase so if she's not acting different...run with it!

  • Both of my kids go through spurts of eating everything in site and than not eating enough to keep a bird alive! So on those days I give them the kids version of a breakfast shake anytime throughout the day when they want a drink! That seems to help!
