toyota sienna vs. honda odyssey

Re: toyota sienna vs. honda odyssey

  • I hate vans.  Hate them.

However, I rented a Sienna from Zip Car a few weekends ago and it was awesome.  It was like driving a luxury car.  Super smooth.  Plenty of room in the back behind the third seat for all our groceries, double stroller, and beach totes.  Like, I'd consider buying one as much as I dislike vans.

(Weird comment... I think I messaged you on TheNest, but I don't see where I did it... did you get one or am I imagining it or did I dream it?  Okay, end crazy.)

  • They are both very similar, but I liked the Sienna better as far as how it handled on the road, and the fact that the Sienna has a model that has all wheel drive.  Otherwise, they are very similar.

  • No experience with either unfortunately, but I'm chiming in to say we've had 3 Hondas in the past 7 years and we have had nothing but wonderful experiences with each of them (2 new and one certified pre-owned). Love our Hondas, and the Odyssey is my dream vehicle (sad, right?).

On another note, we have a Pilot and a CR-V, both of which are plenty big for 2 kids and all our stuff if you don't want to go the minivan route. Although the Odyssey with the third row out has tons of space. *sigh* ;-)

  • I think the biggest difference is that the Sienna offers an AWD option where the Odyssey and all other minivans are FWD.
  • I think on fb you said you are looking at used?  I checked out consumer reports for you and their only "recommended" used minivan is the Sienna, got very high ratings for reliability

We have an Odyssey, and we love it.  We liked the way the Odyssey drove better than the Sienna, but we did like them both.  I don't think you can go wrong. Those seemed to be the two most popular vans when we were looking.  I can see the draw to the Sienna based on the AWD!  I would test drive them and see if you have a preference, and then compare the features & the prices to figure out which makes the most sense for you.
  • I've ridden in both. They're both dreams. BUT here we'd have to have the AWD or we'd never get anywhere in the winter.
  • we have the sienna - i love it. i also love hondas - so i really don't think you could go wrong with either!
