Super wonderful (DS related)
As many of you know, DS has been having lots and lots of issues with his ADHD and we had really hit a bottom a few months ago. As a result of this, we placed him on a preservative free diet and made the decision to put him on Wellbutrin (an antidepressant) to help him with his severe mood swings.
The last weeks have been really difficult, but this week there have been huge improvements. He has not moved his clip down in any of his classes 3 days in a row now, which may not sound like a big deal, but he was seriously at a point where letters from the teacher were coming home every day. He is so proud of himself, and it shows.
The diet has been hard but worth it. We are eating better as a whole, and it seems to be working for Gabe. He says he feels more clear headed and overall when he tries to concentrate, it works. I am sure some of this has to do with the new meds as well, since the dr says it works on the same receptors as his new meds, but we saw improvement before the meds were fully built up in his system.
I am feeling such relief and happiness right now. Things are looking up and my son is feeling better about himself, which is truely what we are aiming for. Now, the big test is STAR testing in a week, but I have confidence.

How long did the MD say the Wellbutrin would take to set in? I know DH's MD said his would take about a month ...
Wow. I'm so, so happy for you!
Since he is so tiny, they thought we would see results in about 2 weeks. We are right at about 2.5 weeks today and I am slowly seeing a happier, calmer child.

Have you learned anything through this that other families can benefit from? For instance, how do you and K feel after the preservative-free experiment? Anything easier than excepted? Harder than expected?
