I need meal ideas

We literally have nothing in our fridge that makes up a meal. Poor L had green beans, organic ravioli and organic tater tots for lunch today.

We are headed to the grocery store today but I am drawing a blank on what we should have for meals this week.

Anyone have any ideas for us?? If it can be cooked on the grill or in the crackpot even better. Its just been too hot and humid to turn the oven on the past few days.

    I can't wait to get a grill...so I can make steak 7 nights a week.

Really though, steak a taters are always delicious.

  • Grilling should be relatively easy for idea.. any meats can be thrown on the grill; chicken, steak, shrimp.. make em into skewers with our without veggies.  Grill veggies separately, corn on the cob, zuccini, potatoes, peppers and onions..

Refer to our crockpot sticky for ideas Wink

  • I've posted this before and it's SO good...and since it's a grill idea, I thought I'd share again...

    Grill chicken breasts
Top with a slice of roma tomato, goat cheese, and basil (chiffonade it)

You could serve with rice, pasta, salad, anything.  And it's delicious!

Also, I love corn on the cob on the grill...just shuck the corn, put it on foil, add butter, salt, and pepper, then wrap it up in the foil and grill for maybe 15-20 minutes.

  • Yum, CRACKPOTs make the best food :)

    My Favorite salad for summer:

Spinach leaves, Mandarin oranges, Raspberries, Crispy chow mein noodles, and Naturally Fresh Ginger dressing. So good and quick!

Baked potatoes are good too, especially cooked the way Megan described the corn on the cob.

Ohhhh!  We've never grilled potatoes!  How long do you leave them on?

  • We put them on the top rack part and it takes about 30-45 minutes.

Not much to add, just thought crackpot was funny :D

I really liked the swiss chicken crockpot recipe. I put it over rice!

We preboil ours so it does not have to be on the grill that long. We also grill fruit - marinate it in brown sugar or honey or molasses and sometimes add some spices like cinnamon. nutmeg, allspice.

DH does the grilling (and has done the cooking for that matter.) We get pork roasts and cut them in to steaks (marinate with steak spices or something). He also loves to grill sausage and brats.

I like to get little red potatoes and cut them into cubes, put those in a greased 9x13 (or 9x9) foil pan, with some cut up onion, colored peppers, garlic cloves, and whatever spices you would like. Throw a few pads of butter over the top cover with foil and throw them on the grill for about an hour, stirring occasionally with a spatula.
