Anyone who got pregnant after being on Mirena/an IUD
Did you have it removed by an OB/GYN or a PCP/family doctor? Did you also have a general check-up at the same time to make sure everything was all good to go? Was it uncomfortable?
I'm just trying to decide the best way to go about this...

Re: Anyone who got pregnant after being on Mirena/an IUD
No, I'm not pregnant-- if I were pregnant, I would DEFINITELY be going to an OB/GYN to get it removed!
I don't have an OB/GYN, so I have to coordinate getting one and I know it takes a while sometimes to get an appointment.
I would go with the OB-- to minimize anything that could happen (scarring etc)
I didn't think that was an issue when removing it... aw man!
I'm not 100% sure but I know there is a risk of it- my PCP didn't want me to get it before kids because of that but I never did any research. I just wouldn't mess around in getting it out!
Well yah, I would have it removed too. but now that I'm re-reading the title again...I'm totally reading it differently.
Don't mind me and my overtired overtime brain! ha
I think you should save the copay and just do it yourself. How hard can it be- you're just about a nurse now!!!
No, really, I have no idea. I just wanted to be involved.
lol Erika
THIS!
Erika- your comment just made me burst out laughing! Thank goodness there's not one else in the office yet!
I'd vote for OB as well, better safe than sorry!
Oh, and the "direction" you're moving in just made me giddy like a school-girl. Yessssssssss!!!

I read it this way too. Happy for you to be taking this step though!
The practice that put it in can take it out. And you should be a "Fertile Mertle" once it is removed.
Mine was put in my Planned Parenthood (the joy of a sliding scale and being a poor college student) and they will take it out when we're ready (COME ON HUBBY!). After that, I will just working on making the baby thing happen before I worry about the next doctor to get. I figure that PP has my records on it, so they'll have more of a clue about me.
You joke, but I read a post on the bump recently where a woman did take it out herself!
