SPRINGDALE ? A man who claimed he was bitten by a snake at the Springdale Walmart?s garden center has been arrested.
Ryan Cornelison, 25, of 1014 N. Jefferson St. was arrested Thursday in connection with misdemeanor communicating a false alarm. Police said Cornelison brought a copperhead snake to the garden center April 14 and pretended he was bitten, according to an arrest warrant from the city attorney?s office.
Aaron Hull, 23, of 3010 Rocky Branch Road was arrested Tuesday in connection with misdemeanor communicating a false alarm. Police believe Hull helped Cornelison stage the incident.
A doctor at Northwest Medical Center did not find puncture wounds on Cornelison after the incident, according to the affidavit. He was asked to stay the night for observation, but refused, according to the affidavit. He returned to Walmart and rode his motorcycle home.
Hull?s aunt received a text message from Hull on April 6, saying a buddy had an idea ?to be millionaire by lettn it bite him n garden center.? A photo of a rattlesnake was attached. The aunt was not named in the affidavit.
On April 14, the aunt received another text that said ?all them around garden areas. Watch ur step.? A photo of a copperhead, which appeared to be the same snake that Cornelison killed in the garden center, was attached, stated the affidavit.
The aunt also said she saw a post on Hull?s Facebook page that said ?snake + WM = $?, the affidavit stated.
Hull called 911 to report Cornelison had been bitten. Cornelison pulled a fire alarm and told officers he had been bitten and stomped the snake to death.
Hull was cited and released Tuesday from the Springdale City Jail.
Cornelison was released Thursday from the city jail on $1,100 bond.
