poll: spouse vs. house

there is a new show on TLC called spouse vs. house. it's a makeover show where the husband makes all the design decisions.

if you were on this show, would you like h's choices? what would he do?

Re: poll: spouse vs. house

  • I have absolutely no idea.  For our registry I pretty much made all the decisions.  He had some input, but I had the initial ideas.  Having never bought a house or even furniture together I have no idea what he would like.

Although, I don't think I would absolutely hate his choices.  It just seems that on most things we have decided on that we run in pretty similar thinking.

We'll find out if/when we ever get a house.

  • I think I would be ok with most of his choices.  But our whole house would probably be green and brown with some blues thrown in.  And there would be NO knick-knacks around...DH hates that stuff, but I think if it's done right, it shows our personality and can make the house cozy.
  • omg, H and I saw this last night (yes we were watching extreme couponing haha) and his eyes lit up and he asked if he could be on it. ABSOLUTELY not. i'd come home to black leather couches, ohio state memorabilia all over and the world's largest television. no thanks!

    Ditto Joe.

  • I know I wouldn't like all his decisions, but I am sure I could live with all of them.  He has pretty good taste, but occasionally lack imagination to do more creative stuff that I like.
  • No, no, no, no, no, no. H makes no design decisions in our house. The man can't even dress himself without my help.

He picks electronics in our house and I pick everything else. We both like this deal.

If he picked every single thing in our house would be "practical" instead of visually appealing.

    I shudder at the thought.

  • That show sounds like a nightmare to me. Mine and H's style couldnt be more different! When ever we walk through a furniture store I'm always appalled by what he thinks looks good. If its ungodly large dated and, super ornamental he loves it. I like very clean and classic lines. Later when I get home I post some of the styles that he likes.

  • Yes! My H has awesome style with design etc.  With all the houses he goes into, he has so many ideas of what he wants for our forever home. I would absolutly love for him to design it.

  • absolutely not!!!   he's good with home renovations, ie...laying tile, hanging drywall, electrical work & all over design etc. BUT not with anything as far as interior paint, decorations or furniture layout...

  • I think H's choices would be okay but they would probably be very plain and there wouldn't be much personality to the house.

  • Sure, I don't see why not.  He has decent taste.

I know, though, that all of our furniture would be leather - and that isn't going to fly with me.

  • NO. I mean, he could probably do alright with color schemes and furniture but he would have all kinds of "crap" all over the walls. I like simple. He likes gawdy.
