pregnant?

I started taking the pill in December and didnt like it, so I decide to switch to the Mirena IUD. My cycles were pretty consistant (very light) up until a month and half ago. I just recently found out that I have a very small cyst on my cervix which at times can be a bit painful. I had an ultrasound to see if the iud was still in place and it was. I've been a little nauseous and having the weirdest cravings.

I'm trying not to read too much into things because I know the side effects from the use of Mirena are similar to that of being pregnant. But how common is it to become pregnant will using the mirena iud and how dangerous? if i am pregnant how harmful will that be for the baby. My husband is in the military so Ive schedule an appointment for next week when he come home... Just wanted a heads up before the actual appointment.

Re: pregnant?

  • How long ago did you have the ultrasound?  If you are that concerned then why not take an at home pregnancy test?
    Anniversary
  • i had the ultrasound a month and half ago when i though it was out of place... thats when my doctor discovered that there was a small cyst on my cervix.
  • My mom managed to get pregnant while using the Mirena.  But it caused her to miscarry.  If you think you might be, you should look into it as soon as possible.

Thats just my experience with it.

  • I am on my phone and cant bold your last two sentences but your H is in the military and away...how long has he been away? If you are pregnant I hope it's his child...at any rate Mirena is bad news for pregnancy but has low rates of that actually happening.
  • why would you say that?! totally uncalled for. do you seriously think I would put myself out there like that if it wasn't? you could have kept that to yourself. some of you here are so damn negative... I thought this was a place where ppl could come a seek advise and share their experiences? :/ and yes it would be his child! I visit my husband once a month. and I'm only in our hometown packing to move permanently where his is. anyway... f/u: took an ept last night (twice) and the results were negative... I'm still gonna go to the doctor to make sure there's not another cyst causing the discomfort.

It's ADVICE, honey. You wanted to be ADVISED. Two different words.

Thank god it's negative. Mirena + pregnancy = potentially not a viable pregnancy.

Thanks to our wonderful RE our family is complete!

this is a good chart to check out

  • I'm from The Bump TTC board... if you're pregnant enought to have symptoms then you're pregnant enough to turn a stick pink.  Test if you think you're pregnant.  If you get a negative then you're not.  Also, getting pregnant is easy - less than 20% chance every month when you're REALLY trying.
