Royal Wedding

I dont remember what the regular Friday topic is but I thought some might want to chat about Royal Wedding stuff so heres the place.

Re: Royal Wedding

  • Kate was so stunning, modern (by royal standards) but still so classic and elegant.  The ceremony was beautiful and so heartfelt I was tearing up and I just loved the little glances they gave each other a few times.  Royal or not a wedding is about love and they look so happy and in love.  Congrats Will and Kate.

Glad I got up early to watch.

  • I just started watching it. I went to set my alarm last night and I just couldn't wake up early. I will report back when I finish :)

  • I'm not watching it until tonight. So I can't chat about it.

  • I thought her dress was gorgeous!
  • I'm not watching it at all.  I like the "in a nutshell" version I get online.  So I will be reading what you ladies have to say. ;-)

I will say that the quote "Be who God wants you to be, and you will set the world on fire" is pretty amazing.   Someone quoted it on Facebook.

Yes, I loved that quote and he was looking right at them when he said it and the whole address from the bishop (I think) was beautiful.

  • Her dress was so Grace Kelly!  It looks like the modern day version of her wedding dress.

Also, the hats were so over the top great!  Fergie's daughters had the BEST!

     Exactly!

  • I DVR'd it but then woke up late so I fast forwarded through the first 1.5 hours of people arriving and watched the Queen and Kate arrive and watched Kate walk down the aisle. The congregation was just finishing the first hymn when I had to leave the house, so I will watch the actual ceremony when I get home.

I liked Kate's dress and I like that she went with a shorter veil. I was also glad to see she was wearing the tiara and wasn't forced to do flowers in her hair since she was a "commoner." I also liked that she didn't do an over the top cascade of flowers, something simple and elegant.

I was happy to see that they bucked tradition and didn't make Pippa wear the same blah dresses as the 5 year olds. The dress was beautiful on her.

A lot of people keep saying she is missing that something Diana had. I don't think that is true unless by "something" they mean the deer in headlights-marrying a man I don't love as a virgin 20 year old bride-look. I think Kate looked real and like a truly happy bride marrying for love not a fairy tale princess.

I  also LOVED the wedding being in HD so you could read William's lips when he told her she looked beautiful and I love that it has been printed that he cracked the "small family affair" joke with Kate's dad.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS.   I caught part of Diana's wedding on some random channel the other night and it was kind of creepy, actually.

  • I didn't DVR it and all I've seen are the major things that were talked about on my morning show this morning.  Her dress was SO pretty.

On the first point ABSOLUTELY, the love is real! On the second point I LOVED being able to see what he said to her.

  • I have only been able to see pictures online but she looked amazing!   I have the rest DVR'd and DH already knows I'm watching it when I get home tonight.  Love the dress!  Very elegant but still very modern.  I also love that the Queen let her wear a tiara. I can't wait to watch the rest.  They truly look like they are in love!

  • Loved her dress! I'm a fan of lace so there is no surprise there. The ceremony was beautiful!

I will admit, I thought some of the hats worn by the guests were strange. One of them looked like a boat. I like the more normal looking hats and fascinators. That pink ribbon looking one was weird too.

  • I didn't think I was going to watch it this morning and thought I would just catch clips and specials that are going to be blasted on E! all weekend long, but when I woke up this morning, Siavash said he DVRed so we laid in bed and fast forwarded through and watched some of it.

I think she looked beatiful and her dress was pretty and fit the occasion.

    I liked the crazy hats.

I liked his boyish giggle/smile after the kiss.

  • One of Fergie's daughters (the one in tan from head to toe) had a horrible hat.  WTH?  Both were weird but especially the tan one.
  • She looked so beautiful, just amazing. I wish her bouquet had been just a little bigger, though.

I got a major kick out of the hats. The wackier, the better, I thought.

I don't know if any of you caught this, but after the first reception, William drove the two of them away from Buckingham Palace to another location so they could rest before the second reception. The were in a little convertible decorated with balloons and streamers and it said "Just Wed." Apparently this was a total break from tradition, and they looked so relaxed, happy and in love, like any other young couple making their grand exit.

  • Oh, and I loved the music! Possibly my favorite part of the ceremony. Especially the commissioned piece by John Rutter.
