separate post about the snip

I feel like doing bullet points because the nest ate my lovely paragraph-form story about it. Grrr... Oh well, here goes again:

Rodgers had a consultation last week to talk about having a vasectomy. When they asked when he wanted it done, he said ASAP. Sooner than I expected: the first available appt was Tuesday this week. He wouldn't let me tell anyone, so I've of course been dying to talk about it.

He was home Monday because he had to take Valium in the evening so that he'd be nice and relaxed Tuesday morning. Rodgers on Valium was absolutely hilarious, and he doesn't remember it at all.

It went great. He was in some pain the first day, but just occasional soreness since then. And I felt this smug kind of glee bringing him an ice pack for his crotch - the same soft blue gel kind of ice pack that I sat on for countless hours after Nate was born.

He goes back mid-July (12 weeks) to give a sample for sperm count. Most men are sterile after 12 weeks, but if he's not we still have 2 months before I'm possibly fertile again, which I guess is the whole reason we did this now.

Re: separate post about the snip

  • For some reason I missed that you guys were doing this, but I'm impressed! Travis and I have talked about it after #2 if we even decide to have a second. Glad it wasn't that bad and Rogers is feeling good!
  • 12 weeks ? thats about right - we say return with a semen sample in " 15 ejaculations or 2 months - which ever comes first " ... some guys come back in 3 weeks -- kinda freaky.

    yey for Rodgers !

  • Glad to hear Rodgers is feeling good...I had no idea you guys were thinking of doing this!

  • Wow - I had no idea y'all were doing this either. I mustve missed that post. I'm glad Rodgers is feeling good.

  • I think I may have mentioned it in passing. We have definitely been 100% sure this is the last baby. Rodgers thought he was ready to to do this a year ago, but I asked him to wait. He thought he only wanted one kid and, even though we decided together to try for baby #2, he didn't expect it to happen, and he wasn't really sure he wanted it to happen until I took the HPT. We started talking sterilization again at my 8 week appt with the NP, and after that I told him I was ready for that, but I was surprised it happened so fast!

  • Wow...you guys are quite the decision makers.

Greg and I would have hemmed and hawed over this for months if not years.

This is how I imagine our conversation will go too.

Glad Rogers is doing well! And I love your comment about the ice packs : )
