Late period continuation ..

Hey Ladies! Well yesterday I was 5 days late and still had no period. This morning I woke up and I am now spotting. I was reading up on the "implantation" bleeding and wondering if that is what it is or if it's the starts of my period. I'm guessing I'll just have to wait and see. I was going to get another pregnancy test and take it Monday since that would have been one week of being late. Should I still do that?

Oh and a lady I work with was talking to her nurse friend about my situation and she said that she isn't going to say the starting of that new blood pressure medicine couldn't mess me up but that it is very unlikely that a blood pressure medicine would do that. She said antibiotics and other meds could.

Re: Late period continuation ..

  • I would still test, just to be sure, because you can spot during implantation. But remember, if you just came off the BC pill not too long ago, this could just be your body adjusting to not having those extra hormones in your system. When I stopped taking the pill, my period was all over the place, even 3 months after I had stopped.

This. Like was mentioned before, test every other day until you get your period. My body ovulated 7 days late after I came off of BC (I track temps, this is how I know when I ovulated) so my period would have been a week late. Hope this helps/makes sense.

  • I agree with pp's.  Taking another test is a good idea- it might at least be able to give you some peace of mind.  Good luck!

  • My understanding is that implantation bleeding is actually pretty rare.  I would continue taking home pregnancy tests and if they continue to be negative and all you have is spotting see your OB-GYN for a blood test.

I also agree with this.  You never know.  I was absolutely sure I was getting my period (cramps, bloating, moodiness) but took a test and found out I was really pregnant.  It could also be that your body is still adjusting without the pill, but it could also go the other way.  Keep us posted!
