Need restaurant recs in Philadelphia

DH and I are going to Philly for our anniversary next month.  We will drive up from DC on a Saturday morning, do some sightseeing and then dinner.  We are staying in the Sofitel downtown, so we would prefer something walking distance.  We like all kinds of food, would be particularly interested in seafood if you have a good suggestion.  Suggestions can be expensive but not outrageous.  I'd love to do a great local Philly restaurant.

Thanks for any recommendations!

  • Seafood, particularly if you like oysters: Sansom Street Oyster House, it is a re-born Philly classic.  Great food.  Not terribly intimate or romantic though.  One of my favorite places.

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
  • I would look at XIX at the top of the Bellevue Hotel.  They have an amazing raw bar, great menu and it is a beautiful restaurant.

  • If you've never been to the Sofitel before, you'll love it! It's beautiful and has a really nice bar/lounge area off of the lobby - we were just there last week. Have a great trip!! :)
  • If you like Mexican, you can not go wrong with El Vez or Distrito.  Absolutely fabulous!  Have fun!

  • I'm not sure of the  address, and its a bit pricey, but Dante and Luigi's is excellent.  Its very nice Italian cuisine in an intimate setting, the outside is a tad off-putting, but its worth it.  Check it out here:  http://www.danteandluigis.com/

    Hope this helps!
