Anyone been to Negril or anywhere in Jamaica?
We are looking to go this year and use our credit from Sandals that we got from our honeymoon. Unfortunately we are looking to go AUG-Dec, which is hurricane season..are we crazy?
When did you go, and how was the weather?
do we just get trip insurance and risk it?
Our resort credit has to be used this year, thats why we were looking at those dates, suggestions?
Thanks!
Re: Anyone been to Negril or anywhere in Jamaica?
I've been to Montego Bay in April 2x.
80* & sunny & beautiful both times I went. A nice break after leaving snowy MI!
I have been to Negril (May 2010) and Ocho Rios (February 2011). I think that Late November-Early December would be a great time to go. I believe that the hurricanes are less of a chance after October.
I don't recommend Ocho Rios, it is on the north side of the island and the storms are always worse than the south side (Negril area). May is the start of rainy season but we had great weather, may have gotten one rain shower/day but it was only about 5-20 minutes long. Our February trip had terrible weather, rain every day and major storms.
I would recommend Sandals Negril, our friends just went there in January and they loved it.
Getting fit for IVF!
Just b/c it's hurriance season, doesn't mean there will be a hurricane or even there it will rain. I've never been to Jamaica...but have been to Rivieria Maya twice in Oct. Both times it was gorgeous, sunny 90 F degree weather. You really never know.
Get the trip insurance that covers allowance to change due to weather and just hope for the best
