We are looking for somewhere to go this summer within driving distance (not really wanting to fly with the baby yet) with my parents and 2 sisters. So far we are thinking about Port Aransas area but I would like some other options to look into if anybody has any??? TIA!!!
Re: Summer Getaway Ideas
I'm currently trying to figure this out myself as we speak.
Last year we went to Hot Springs and I would LOVE to go back.
I really like Port Aransas! The beaches are prettier than Galveston.
Do you want a gulf getaway or are you open to other places? What kind of getaway are you thinking? Relaxing? Sightseeing? How far are you willing to travel?
My parents took us to the pensacola/destin Florida area every single year of my life and we loved it. I loved it so much that we had our wedding there and are going back for a week in August when I finish with summer school. The beach is beautiful and there are tons of great places to eat. We always rented a condo so my mom and I could cook some nights though.
The drive is about 8-9 hours but my parents always left at our bedtime at night and took turns driving. They were tired the first day, but it was better than dealing with excited kiddos. By the drive home, we were so wiped from being at the beach all week that we slept the whole way home too.
We could probably be friends with this opinion. :-D

I also have loved San Antonio. There is a lot to do with Sea World, Fiesta Texas, the Riverwalk, and all the history stuff down there. This is one of my favorite places in Texas.
In Oklahoma there is the Arbuckle Wildreness and Turner Falls which are both very pretty and family friendly.
