Please diagnose my washing machine...

Hi everyone,

I was hoping that maybe someone can help my diagnose an issue I am having with my washing machine.  It is a single stacked washer/dryer Maytag unit.  It came with my house (but without any paperwork) so I don't know how old it is, but I am guessing somewhere around 10 years old. Up to this point we have not had a single issue with it.  Lately it seems to be getting "stuck" in cycles.  For example, it will rinse numerous times until I catch it and turn the dial a little.  Then it will be stuck in spin until I move the dial.  This is becoming a problem, as I don't really have time to babysit the washing machine and it is wasting a tremendous amount of water/energy.  Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions before we call a VERY pricey repair man?  Thanks!

Re: Please diagnose my washing machine...

  • This seriously JUST happened to our Maytag washer last weekend. Maytag came out and diagnosed it yesterday and said it needed a new timer. Ours was stuck in a cycle as well, and the dial just kept going. Definitely call the Maytag number and have them come out.
