We have wooden blinds in our house well some are wood and some are faux. I will admit that I haven't kept up with cleaning them through the years so they are really dusty and the ones were the kids can get to them are a little dirty. What is the easiest way to clean them? We are thinking of selling our house so I want to get started on these. Do I take them down? What type of cleaner do I use?
Thanks for your help!
Re: How to clean wood blinds
We have wood blinds that get REALLY dusty. Here's the easiest way I've found:
Buy those microfiber towels like you use for washing cars (can get at costco or auto supply stores)
Wash towels and dry but do NOT use fabric softener (towels will be full of static)
Wrap towel over hand and run along the length of each blind using fingers to get between strings. The static really helps grab the dust. Switch towels as they get dirty and start to smear the dust around.
On slats that are dirty, spray a little pledge or dusting spray on towel before wiping.
