Kass said she has to fly soon and she's unsure how to feel about it.

WDYT? if you have a vacation scheduled are you considering re-scheduling?

i don't know that i really fear a similar attack because i feel like terrorists wouldnt repeat what they did the last time. but then again, i dont want to get a sense of security and be wrong.

Re: s/o bin laden

  • I'm flying to Seattle in 3 weeks and have no intention of rescheduling. While I'm sure everyone will be on high alert and it will be a PITA, I'll deal.

  • I've never liked flying.  Ever.  And it's been even worse post-9/11.

I'm not one to live in fear, but it's always in the back of my mind...

Of course, I'm the same girl who got on a plane a week after the Towers fell... yeah, was not good times.

Along similar lines, there was an abandoned duffle bag left at the train station yesterday while my sister and I were in Boston.  Those were some of the most stressful minutes of my existence right there, waiting for the train to come, and hoping the bag doesnt explode while I'm on the same platform...

These are sad times we're in...

  • I'm flying Thursday and while I'm concerned about retaliation, I do have faith that passports, bags, identities etc will be checked and screened as necessary and that we have learned from the 9/11 attack. I feel fine about going through heightened screening and/or pat downs if it means my safety is assured. We will definitely not be rescheduling any of the trips we have planned this year.

  • If I was planing on going somewhere in the next few weeks I wouldn't be to scared because this is when security is at its tightest.

Do I think they may try to get back at us, maybe, do I think they will do it in the next few weeks, no. If they are going to do anything they are going to wait until our guard is down and we all feel somewhat safe.

As we have seen in the past, these ppl have patience and will wait until we least expect it.

  • I have only been on a plane post 9/11. I am more scared of it crashing than a terrorist attack on one.

That said, I would not cancel my plans to travel. I have no control over what is going to happen in the future, so I would not let it interfere, and ruin a trip.

  • Doug has a fear of flying and has his entire life - so, we don't fly. But, my opinion on flying hasn't changed.

However, I have a friend leaving for Germany tonight and another friend over in Europe now. I'm more afraid of what other countries are thinking about America right now and the effects this may have on their safety being out of our country more than anything else.

  • If I had a trip planned anytime in the near future, I wouldn't cancel.  I would proceed with caution but I wouldn't cancel.  Like Sara said, this is when security is the most strict, so I would feel relatively safe.
  • I'll probably fly 3-4 times over the next 3 months.

I'm not that scared, but the airport I fly in/ out of is one of the most secure in the country.  They're no nonsense every day.  Not saying nothing could ever happen, but it is less likely to out of this airport.

I feel like whatever retaliation we may experience is grasping at straws in an attempt to unify the inevitable fracture in a cult of personality.

  • I'm pretty good about flying in general, and tend to not get freaked out.  For whatever reason while driving into work today and listening to all the radio coverage, the thought crossed my mind that there would be retaliation, so it gave me pause about getting on a plane tomorrow.  But, I tend to agree that things will be more safe this week, and like someone said, these guys are patient.  And I hate to say this and sound insensitive, but they've already done the plane thing, and part of me thinks they'll try something different next time.  It is scary that we have to live thinking things like this, but we can't let it control our lives....then they really "win".
