Baby shower menu

So I am trying to think of a menu for my sister's shower.  I have thought of a pasta bar since it wouldn't be that expensive.  However, I worry that people might not be into it at an outdoor shower when it could possibly be warm out.  Thoughts?

Re: Baby shower menu

  • What time is the shower?

Normally for showers in general I'm a fan of lots of finger foods that are good cold/room temp.  People tend to graze, so we usually do foods where you can just leave them out w/o worry.

    Maybe a cold pasta bar?

I agree with a cold pasta bar for a spring/summer outdoor shower.

Shower is at 1 so I feel like I need a meal along with appetizers.

  • Then maybe a cold pasta bar would be good.

Or even though it's lunch time, stick with filling smaller foods.  Finger sandwiches, meatballs, dips, fruit and veggie trays and then dessert.

  • Could you throw something grilled in the mix? An outdoor menu is always hard for me to come up with ideas since you don't know what the weather will bring.

This is my normal go to menu for showers. I'm also a fan of chicken salad and shrimp salad for the spring/summer time.

This is what we normally do. I think a cold pasta bar (different pasta salads) would be a good idea too.

  • Thanks ladies, luckily I have some time to figure it out. Maybe my first priority should be actually sending invitations. Sad how my mind goes to food first :(

  • I like the idea of a cold pasta salad bar, and finger sandwiches - like tea sandwiches (cucumber, chicken salad, salmon, etc) pigs in blankets, meatballs, veggies and dip, fruit salad, etc.
