what spf # to you use on LO
Just wondering what # everyone is using. The doc said nothing over 45...just reapply. But at the store it was really hard to find anything below 50 for kids.
Re: what spf # to you use on LO
I generally use SPF 50 on my kids, and reapply every couple hours.
EDIT: http://www.melanomafoundation.org/prevention/facts.htm
Everyone should use a sunscreen with minimum SPF30.

the nothing over 45 thing is just b/c people think when it's high they don't have to reapply, so doctors caution parents to use a lower one and reapply so they don't put too much faith in that high spf.
The other reality is that 30spf blocks 97% of harmful rays; 60 spf blocks 98%. So it doesn't really do much more either.
It's all about reapplying.

oh.......so much to learn.....although I would think it would be common sense for me to re-apply regardless of what the spf is.....
I once heard that the number of spf equals the number in minutes of duration before you should re-apply. Anyone ever heard that? I'm not talking babies, just in general.
