Our home inspection was canceled and I'm pissed. The woman who owns the home is disabled from a back injury. Apparently her back took a bad turn this morning and her sons decided they needed to take her to her specialist in Tampa ASAP so they called their realtor 30 minutes before the inspection and told her to cancel. So 20 minutes before, we get the call. The inspector was already out there. I understand that she's sick and that it may have been a bit of an emergency, but 30 minutes? Seriously? They couldn't have left a damn key under the mat? They knew we were on the way.
The inspection has to be done by Friday for us to walk away if there's anything major so now in order to be at the inspection we have to do it Wednesday morning and put off our family vacation by about 5 hours. I know she's sick, but I'm not happy at all. So in closing, I'm an insensitive b*tch and I don't care.
Re: I'm an insensitive b*tch
That's really sh!tty. In my opinion, sellers should bend over backwards for the buyers because the buyers have about 10000 chances to walk away from a sale. It's great being the buyer in that respect. I'm surprised they wouldn't leave a key. Could your realtor ask if they can just do that?
For our inspection, we didn't even go. It was just our Realtor and the inspector, we trusted her 10000% to make sure it was all okay.
That sucks. Will they for sure be back by tomorrow morning?
I totally understand, if it was a short sale and the seller at this point didn't care, I'd want to make sure everything is in order myself as well.
Come to book club and drink away the annoyance
How is it that my BABY is going to be 3?

Her sons will be. Unfortunately the inspector was completely booked (he tried to see if he could move anything around but there was no way) so we have to do it Wednesday. I would come to book club but I thought I wasn't going to make it so I didn't finish the book. Plus, even if my sore throat is gone, I'm paranoid about getting you moms-to-be sick.
Mine is through the roof.
Nope. She was always there to let people in for showings since she doesn't work.
Dude. That's just messed up. I mean, I understand *** happens, but c'mon! They should've thought to leave a key before leaving. And you may want to talk to your realtor about the sellers' obligation to make the house available for inspections and such.Their crap shouldn't mess with your contract timing.
At the very least, hopefully the inspector won't charge you.
"My 101 List - Updating asap, I swear!
That's weird. I don't like that.
My realtor already made it very clear that Wednesday was non-negotiable and that there needs to be a key left in case there's another emergency since we have to have the inspection done by Friday.
The inspector was really great. He was super accommodating and didn't charge us. He even walked around the outside of the house just to take a look and said things were looking good so far so he hopes that's a good sign.
Neither do I. It was super awkward both times we viewed the house. I was really hoping she wouldn't be there for the inspection. I don't know if she's going to be back on Wednesday or if it will just be her sons but I'm hoping if it's just the boys that they leave during.
I don't know much about home buying, but ditto. If HGTV has taught me anything, surely you can do a walkthrough withOUT the homeowner there! That seems shady as sh!t that the homeowner is just standing there while you're there.
That SUCKS. I wonder if maybe she doesn't actually *want* to sell the house so she's not being so accommodating? Either way, total PITA. Hopefully tomorrow goes smoothly!
FWIW, only about half of the houses we looked at had lock boxes, and this one didn't if I remember correctly. The owners were retired and it was never an issue. They were here during the open house when we first saw the place too, but it didn't bother me at all. I think he was watching TV and she was doing a puzzle or something. lol
