Need your help w/planning surprise
...I posted last week that I ended up buying tix for us to go to the Bulls playoff game on Wed (DH's bday). He's a huge fan and went to one playoff game a few years ago, but I think it'll be a complete surprise.
So, my dilemia is when do I give him the tickets? I bought a Bulls tshirt and want to wrap the tix with that, but I'm debating if I give it to him Tuesday night (1 day before bday; he packs his clothes for work the night before) while he's packing....or do I give it to him Wed/bday morning before work?
Either way I'm thinking, I'll have them both wrapped and say something like "I think you should open this to wear tomrw/today"
Right now he's planning/thinking we'll go out to eat on Wed and then go to a bar he's been wanting to try out for a few drinks. I don't think he's planning on people coming to dinner, but maybe the bar. But he's the kind of guy who's a last minute planner, so he'd probably be texting/calling people Wed during work to go out..by which time he'd already know our plans for the night are the game.
So....should I give Tues night or Wed morning? Or do you have another suggestion of when or what to say when he opens it?

Tell him now that you have plans for the night of his birthday, so he shouldn't make any. And then give him the shirt/tickets on Wednesday morning.
Can you sneak the shirt in his bag after he's packed it? If not, I'd just give him the shirt on Wednesday morning and tell him he's going to want to wear it that night. Then hand him the tickets.
Oh my gosh! You're a genius!! I love this!! It should be able to work...he puts his bookbag in the kitchen the night before (after it's packed), so he can just grab it and go in the morning. I wake up before him anyways. I should totally try to sneak it in!! Thanks!!

I just asked my husband and he said he would want it the night before so he could be ready for it the next morning.
But he's also not a "last minute" kind of guy, so not sure if that helps you at all?

haha, thanks Chris! I may end up doing it the night before, just because I'm so anxious to give it to him, I've almost blabbed a few times this weekend.

Agreed! He could open the shirt and not see the tickets fall out. That would be terrible if it happened!
When I've given tickets to DH, I would make something in Photoshop (like a fake ticket) so he knows we're going, but the tickets don't get lost/damaged.
ooh like that idea too Ashley! Ugh, all so many. We'll have to see how long I can wait it out for.
And good call on the tix girls! They're printable, so I think we could reprint if something did happen? Maybe I'll just print the seating chart and put a star by our section to be safe?

But wouldn't it be the worst if he lost them somewhere in public without realizing it and someone else got to the stadium to use them before you? I'd definitely go the seating chart route!
I once bought tickets to an Astros game for Chris from Stub Hub. We got there and they wouldn't let us in because the tickets had already been used. So obviously, whoever was selling them on Stub Hub had real tickets and was able to print them, so they either sold them twice or used them so we couldn't. Stub Hub fortunately had a rep right down the street that brought us new (less desirable) tickets, and we were refunded the difference.

Btw, I'm so excited for this surprise! Last night DH was like, "wow, this is going to be a sweet bday, I just realized that the Bulls play on it. We can get a good dinner, relax with some beers and watch the game". Little does he know!
Plus supposedly (fingers crossed) Derrek Rose is supposed to be award MVP for NBA today. So it'd be awesome to see him play right after!
