For those of you who have transitioned to lidless cups, when did you do it? I bought these for Owen in hopes of starting the transition, but he dumped water down his front with them:
Also, Owen can't use a straw. He just has never seemed to get it, and I can't get him to stop playing with the straw (pulling it out, pushing it all the way in, etc.). Not a big deal at home, but kind of a PITA at restaurants. I always have to travel with a cup.
Re: f/u sippy cups and straws
I think Helen was around 2 when we started letting her use cups with no lids. She caught on pretty quickly.
It also took her a while to understand straws. Keep trying and some day he'll figure it out!
James has been using lidless cups for a couple of months yet- I was surprised he knew how to use them, but I saw they did it at daycare. One of the pluses of all that money going to them, I guess!
They use your basic plastic cup with the curved lip at daycare. I wish I could find them to buy for our house! We use the normal Take and Toss ones with the sippy lids. DH LOVES to still use the lids, even though James is pretty good at not spilling 90% of the time. (DH hates to clean up any messes.)
When we were moving away from bottles, we tried some sippy cups that he had a hard time with since he didn't really get that he had to tip it. We tried the Munchkin Mighty Grip Flip Straw cup which was a big success. Well, except that he liked to close it and then open it, sending drips flying! We stopped putting the flip part up after a while. Now he doesn't really use the straw cups at all, though they will be good for on the go days when we don't want to bring his larger mini water bottle along. The good news for you is that they don't spill and you can't pull the straw out.
GAH! YES! I keep meaning to check out Tupperwear to see if it's one of their classics, but then I always get distracted. Thanks for finding them- I foresee an addition to the birthday gift list!
I am so glad they still make these! I was just talking to MIL the other day about how we had these cups as kids (in total early 80s browns and muddy greens and oranges!) and how I wish they still made them because they were perfect!
so, who is having the tupperware party so we can order this stuff?? lol
Me too!
