I used to make stir fry all.the.time, and haven't made it in a while. I bought the vegetables for it while I was at the grocery store yesterday, but wanted to see if anyone has a good, quick sauce recipe that they use.
I typically mix black bean garlic sauce, peanut butter, mirin, rice vinegar, and garlic, and cook it all in peanut oil. Problem is that I don't have all of the ingredients, and getting it to taste just right is difficult, especially since it's been so long since I made it.
Anyhow, any suggestions are appreciated!

Thanks! Maybe I will try that next time (or tonight if I can't improvise with what I have...I realized I need to get strawberries anyway so we can eat the rest of the shortcakes I made last night!).
And I'm with you on the oyster thing - I'd be hesitant about it, too!

I generally use soy sauce, add in some corn starch, vinegar (white, apple cider, or other). Maybe 4 TBSP of soy, 2 TBSP of vinegar, and 2 TBSP of corn starch in enough water to put it into solution... add in garlic, ground peppers (I have a Japanese pepper blend) or other spices to taste. Bring it all to a boil will thicken the sauce so it sticks to stuff quite nicely.
I generally used vegetable oil in college (it was what we had at our apartment), but peanut oil or sesame oil are great.

Thank you guys! I actually found a sauce that was unopened in my refrigerator, so I went with that and saved myself a trip to the store (which is literally in front of my neighborhood, if that tells you how lazy I am).
Becca - the Ramen noodles idea sounds really good, actually. I will sometimes use Vermicelli (sp?) noodles, and I think Chris prefers that to rice.
