Any Frederick to DC comumuters here?
DH and I are looking to move soon (live in Glen Burnie now). Obviously want to maximize house for the $$. DH would love to move to Frederick but I think it is too tough a commute to DC. I think train takes too long and 270 is a nightmare. How do you get into DC? Drive, train, metro...what are your experiences? Anything I am not considering??
Re: Any Frederick to DC comumuters here?
I'm from the Gaithersburg area and Frederick is about 20 minutes north of that (without traffic) and I would never live in Frederick and commute to DC! Traffic is horrible and if there is rain or 1 accident, it could be hours. I used to commute from Gaithersburg to College Park and it was at least 1hour 20min. It has taken me 3 hours sometimes.
I hate to be a debbie downer, but that is the reality. Now my Dad commutes to DC on the Marc train from Gaithersburg and it take him over an hour, and he catches the train at 5:30am.
Hopefully others have some ideas.
I think the MARC train is your best bet.
Depending on how long it would take you to drive from Frederick to Shady Grove Metro and where you are going in DC, that is an option too.
