My grandmother will be 80 this July and we are having a surprise party for her on a Sunday afternoon. My mother purchased cake and appetizer plates that are pretty close to tacky, and thats what she wants to theme the decor off for the party. So I'm trying to find some classy, bold colored (red, green, purple, yellow, blue etc) decorations that are summer appropriate. Any thoughts, ideas or blogs that you can point my way?!?
I dont want her 80th party to look like it came from the clearance aisle for parties. I love DIY, and will probably go that direction for budget restrictions. The party will be inside a banquet type room, with windows along one wall overlooking a pool/patio.
Ive googled summer theme and most things Ive seen dont seem appropriate for an 80th party. Thanks ladies!!
Re: Party Decor Help, please!
Hmmm....Yeah, that's not really what I would picture for an 80th bday but who knows. Maybe she'll love it.
I have no idea if any of these will help you but maybe they will.
Colorful Summer Party
Cinco de Mayo (I know that's not when it is but it might be similar colors...)
Life is a Beach (doesn't match your colors but it might be a cute theme)
Luau
Maybe this will give you some ideas.

MNM thats a cute idea! I was planning on doing a slide show of pictures, but I can use a beach one maybe for the invite.
I was told Hobby Lobby has some cute summer decorations in bold colors, we are going to check them out later this week.
The dollar store (or dollar general) has some great summer decor options right now. I love the "life's a beach" theme pp mentioned.
I think if you can focus on table decor (linens, centerpieces) and have them work with the 'theme' you'll be golden.
Enjoy the party! I'm sure your grandmother will love anything you do!

I found this idea on Pinterest and I plan to do this for DH's 40th birthday party next year:
