What do you think about mixing wood finishes for different furniture pieces in a room? I am having a very hard time finding a crib that I like that also matches (in some way) the dresser we already have.
We will be re-using H's old dresser. It is beautiful and in good condition. It is kinda of a honey color. At this point I really do not want to paint or refinish it. So I have been thinking about a white crib.
So would a room look "off" if it had a honey colored dresser, a white crib and then a dark brown chair? I am worried that is just too much contrast for one little room.
Grr, I am so bad at decisions. The EDD is10 weeks away and with some places taking 8 weeks for shipping, I feel like I need to make up my mind asap.
(I will try and upload some pictures later today after my camera battery charges)
Re: I need decorating help, re: mixing wood finishes. (updated w/ pics)
Pics would help.
I think the key to mixing furniture is to embrace the eclectic vibe, at least a little. If the room is totally matchy-matchy, and everything matches except the furniture, then it will stand out. If you blend things together and coodinate things (but don't worry about exact matching), then it can definitely work. It can also depend on the style of the furniture itself. For example, I probably wouldn't mix a traditional oak dresser with a modern white crib.
Here's a pic of a dining room with quite a few different finishes, and I think it looks pretty cool:
Ok, here are some pictures to give you some idea.
This is the dresser. And the walls are not that bright. They are gray blue.
This is the rocker/recliner that will be going in the room:
H wants to do a modern all white crib. But I just don't know.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.
I will be honest and say that I don't like the chair and don't think it will mesh well. The white crib with the dresser won't clash especially if you have white trim and chair rails, but I think the chair will stand out and not in a good way.
Again that is my honest opinion.

THIS is the original crib I wanted. But it has been out of stock at target since we moved. And I am nervous that it is being discontinued. (sorry can't figure out how to PIP from target's website)
This is the crib DH wants (his big argument is that this crib is made here in Mi and is very eco friendly):
And I am thinking about this one (mainly b/c is much much cheaper then the one DH picked out) But I am worried that if the colors don't match, it will look bad.

Sorry should have been more clear. It is only sold online and it is out of stock and it has been for awhile now. I have tried contacting Target to ask if it is being discontinued or not but no one I've talked seems to know.
I guess I am confused because the crib that shows up when I click the link states "in stock".

true story.
Oh man, I got so excited. But nope that is for the bedding pictured on the crib. Somehow I linked to that and not just the crib, but I checked crib is still OOS.
I think the crib your H likes is fine as far as matching the other furniture. A PP mentioned that the chair looks out of place. I don't really think it does. And really...even if it does, it serves a great function and you already have it, so go with it. You can drape it with a nice white blanket or throw and a cute pillow. Besides, everyone gets so worked up about nursery decor! Does the baby care?? Don't sweat the small stuff!
That being said, the Jenny Lind crib (the third one in your post) comes in white. I am not sure which manufacturers make it in white, but I know several do. I think that could look nice.
