F/U to Bin Laden conversation yesterday - a quote
This was on my friend's Facebook wall and I thought those of you that expressed confusion or sadness at the celebration of a death may like this:
"I
mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice
in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate
multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of
stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate
cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."Martin Luther King, Jr.

Re: F/U to Bin Laden conversation yesterday - a quote
Oh wait, now apparently this is a fake quote or something. The internet makes things so confusing.
I still like it anyway.
Yea, I read an article about it being a "fake quote." Oh well, we can still say it...just don't give MLK the credit.
Parts of that quoate are his words, they just "remixed" it. The whole thing is:
The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy.
Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.
Through violence you may murder the liar,
but you cannot murder the lie, nor establish the truth.
Through violence you may murder the hater,
but you do not murder hate.
In fact, violence merely increases hate.
So it goes.
Returning violence for violence multiplies violence,
adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness:
only light can do that.
Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.
