S/O our 3rd Anniversary

Maybe its just me and the people I'm around but I'm really tired of people poo pooing our 3rd anniversary.

Here is an example: I was at a store yesterday and I bought some lingerie and a sexy sun dress. That cashier said "looks like someone is in store for a fun night!". I replied that it was to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. The woman in line behind me said "Ha! Once you hit 10 yrs you can start celebrating". WTF woman?! Dont rain on my parade!! I think this day and age every anniversary should be a "big deal". By "big deal" I mean it should be celebrated in some shape or form, not necessarly lots of time or $$.

Is anyone else running into this?

  • That's rude of her! 1 year, 3 years, 15 years, 30 years, etc. are all reasons to celebrate!

  • I haven't run into that - boo to them! 3 years is a big deal!

  • That's lame.  I agree that you should celebrate your marriage every year and even every day if you want to.  If you do then your marriage will probably last a lot longer than the lady who is so jaded and grumpy.
  • I would have said something like "wow, somebody's glass is half empty today....so when was your divorce finalized??"

Actually, no I wouldn't have, but that would have been a great response.

That's just really rude, not that being divorced is a horrible thing these days, but I think it's an awesome thing to celebrate your marriage....in these times it's not as easy as it used to be, so everyday in a happy marriage is a blessing.  [<:o)

That was just one example. I've gotten that sort of response from a bunch of different people.

  • That was not nice of her. I think every year should be a reason to celebrate the love that we have for each other. This day should be very special every year. That lady was probably waiting for her 10 year to celebrate and the love died while she waited because there was no fire!

  • What a rude lady! She's probably just bitter because her and her H never celebrate.

And I agree, every anniversary is reason to celebrate!
