did anyone time when you would be pg?

My DH and I were talking about having kids and are 95% set that we are going to wait until our anniversary to start trying. Then I thought that if I got pg right away that I would be pg in July and Aug. and I HATE being hot in the summer... So I thought about waiting till Feb to TTC. so that when summer came around at lest I wouldnt be so big.  my DH thinks this is crazy!

Did you girls think of anything like this? or am I off my rocker?

  • Ava was absolutely planned - I needed to have her in July between grad school years, so that I could have a baby, have 4 weeks at home, and start the new school year (weekend program) at the end of August, then return to work FT at the end of October. I wanted to ease back into the crazy schedule of FT work and FT school with a new baby.

If it didn't work, I was going to wait to TTC until the baby would have been born after graduation - the following July since classes ran through June.

My OB told me it couldn't be done - you cannot plan a baby down to the month.

    I showed her - Ava's birthdate is July 26.

I I do not think it is crazy at all.

That being said, we didn't plan and I got pregnant on Day 3 of being a Mrs!  I wouldn't change it for the world

  • I am waiting to TTC b/c I do not want to have a winter baby...why? b/c I am deathly afraid to drive in the snow. i cannot imagine being in labor AND having to deal with horrid weather conditions.  is that crazy?!

  • You can try to plan all you want but you never know how long its gonna take. There are ladies on here that got preggo on the first try and others that take a lil longer. WHen we started TTC it was August. If I got pregnant right away, Id have a spring baby and it would not be busy at work. But it took 4 cycles and I got preggo in November and ended up with an August due date. Its gonna happen when it happens! GL

  • We are trying for a Spring baby...coincidentally, that will mean no shoveling for me this winter, and that absolutely works for me!

Oh and I don't think planning is a bad thing at all, but as Nikos said, you never know how long it's going to take.

  • There's definitely nothing wrong with planning, actually having a plan is a good thing. However, keep in mind that you're plan may not go exactly as you had wished and that you may get pregnant the first month, or it may take several months.

  • Last year we set out to Jamaica to get pregnant.. and I came home with my extra souvenir who is now 3 months old.  Our only mistake was not thinking about when I would be due which was in the middle of the winter.  IF I decide to TTC we will plan on the due date a little better.

  • we knew we wanted a spring/summer baby bc H is an accountant and we wanted the baby to come after tax season. As it worked out I was due 15 days before tax day so all in all it worked out how we planned.

Oh and I totally got out of snow duty this yr which was nice since we had so much.

This. We were trying for a late/spring early summer baby but instead we will have a fall baby. I couldn't be anymore happier. I just wanted a baby. Coming from a person who hates hot weather and will be pregnant all summer. I am not really bothered by it. Just overwhelmed with excitement of having a baby.

Hello. I've waited here for you. Everlong<3<br>
  • Just wanted to say that there are pros and cons to all seasons. MiniMags' birthday is July 23rd and I have to say that not having to buy winter maternity clothes (especially a coat) was wonderful. Being able to wear flipflops instead of closed up shoes with hugely swollen feet was amazing. Floating my big belly in swimming pool was euphoric. If I were to ever spawn again, I would prefer another summer baby. But like these ladies have mentioned, you never know how long it can take to get there.

  • We didn't really plan a specific time to have a baby. We were TTC 4 months when we got pregnant. With my wacky long cycles I thought it would take a long time or not even happen. I loved having K in March because the weather was just getting nicer in April, May, June. I think next time I'd like to have a baby in late Oct so that I could be off all the holidays...but who knows! We prob will just try whenever we are ready!

  • DH and I definitely planned when we would start TTC.  We wanted a 2011 baby so that we would be married almost three years.  We picked the month we would start trying (May 2010) and an end date so that we would not have a winter baby.  Also, we knew we wanted a spring/summer baby because our nephews and niece are all born in December and January.  Christmas and birthdays are VERY expensive as it is so we wanted our LO to be farther apart.  It's a good thing too -- we are expecting another niece/nephew at the end of October!  Haha.  I was pg after three months of trying :)

  • it doesnt hurt to try and plan but just dont stress out about it. we tried for years to get pregnant.. and i couldnt care if baby came on christmas, blizzard or heat wave.... but we lucked out and got fall baby... which was nice!.... best of luck... remember... enjoy the trying phase and dont stress!!!

  • We tried to but it didn't work for us.  I had always thought it would be nice to have a fall baby (me and my siblings are all fall and DH is late August, so I guess that's why I think it's a nice time to celebrate).

We started trying in Jan, and got PG right away, so the EDD was early Oct.  Unfortunately I lost that PG, and when we were given the green light to TTC again, I did the math and realized if it happened right away my EDD would be Christmas day.  That was really the last day I'd want to be due but I figured no sense in waiting or timing things now bc who knew how long it would take.  Lo and behold I was pg right away again and my DD's bday is 12/29.  Honestly, once I knew I was pg and the baby was healthy I didn't care at all when she was due.

IF I could plan for #2 I'd love to have another baby between the months of Oct- April, just for the fact that I could reuse a lot of my maternity clothes and our NB/0-3 month baby clothes.

  • I wasn't planning my pregnancy - but K was born on September 1st.....so I was at my hugest during the summer.  It was hot, but not as terrible as I imagined.  I think at that point you are just uncomfortable anyway.
