QOTD

How fast do you type?

I just did a typing test and I'm at 65 wpm.  Darn, I wish I were faster!

Re: QOTD

  • I haven't done a test so I will just say 'pretty fast'.  But I'm definitely not error-free, I use the backspace a lot!

  • In high school I average 90ish wpm but I don't know about now. I'm a lot lazier and use the backspace key way more than I used to but still "pretty fast".

  • I got 79 but I am not sure how accurate that is...I felt nervous and rushed--like when I know someone at work is watching me type, I always type slower and make mistakes, but when no one is watching, I can type so much faster and with less mistakes!  And if it is a letter that I am typing that is something that I frequently type, I know I am about 3 times faster than usual!
  • I just took the typing test; it gave me an 80. I think it really depends on what I'm typing though. Reading and typing something - sure 80 wpm sounds pretty accurate. Typing something that I'm thinking - its more than likely in the 90's. And when I type in work information (10 key pad) its insanely fast.
  • Got an 81. I think Im a much faster typer when it's coming from my brain instead of a word though. Im with LTB that my 10-key rocks!
  • Damn. Apparently, I only type 66wpm. I thought I was in the 70s.  I remember testing myself a few years ago when I was transcribing.  I wanted to try and type as people talk.  But the average person speaks about 120 wpm.

  • I got an 81 but with 2 errors it dropped it to 79.  I'm ok with that.  Im much better at texting.  Smile

I'm so slow at texting.  I always have to go back and correct my spelling.  Does spelling count in a text?

i'm a horribly slow texter.  i always feel like a loser.  even with my autocorrect i am still so slow.

  • I tried to do the test before but kept getting interrupted, I will try again now.  I agree with the others, I am definitely faster at typing from my head or even transcribing - it slows me down a lot to read and I find myself looking at the keys, even though I don't normally do that (and I'm not doing it right now).  When I tried the test I noticed that there was a lot of punctuation (not just commas and periods) and it seemed to slow me down.  I guess I don't use quotation marks much in my daily life!

  • Deb - I usually spell check my texts and hate regular texting especially on a regular phone unless it's t9word. I love my touch qwerty keyboard and type uberfast on it unless autospell screws me over before I catch it.

Laura - I noticed that on the test as well. The first one I took I got in the 80s but then the others I was in the 70s because of all the punctuation. I tried a couple different texts from the choices and I did better when there was less punctuation.

  • I usually have a lot to say in my texts so my spelling is off anyway b/c I'm using symbols/accronyms, etc.

I have a friend who uses extreme shorthand in texts and I'm usually decoding for 10 minutes before I understand the message. It's that bad sometimes. lol
