Thoughts & Prayers please
My father-in-law had surgery last Thursday (4/28) to remove part of his small intestines (about foot) du to a begine blockage. The surgery went very well & his digestive system began to work again on Saturday. All has been going well but he has been feeling poorly since late Sunday afternoon. The doctors think it may be an infection and have run several test. He should know the results & what the next course of treatment will be by tomorrow afternoon. Please keep him in your prayers. He's a wonderful man. Everytime I wonder what DH will be like when he gets older I just look at his Dad. They are just alike.
Here's a selfish part of the request. As you all know DH & I are surprising SD with a trip to Disney World this summer. We're supposed to be going the first full week in June. Since FIL is sick & he and DH are business partners our Disney trip is now up in the air. I feel so selfish & bad that I'm thinking about this & worrying that we may not be able to go. DH & I have been planning this since September & I've been so excited to take SD for the first time. It's not that I want FIL to get better just so we can go to Disney but I feel guilty worrying about it & feeling disappointed.

And I can imagine that you are torn for your trip

You are NOT selfish for feeling that way. I think it's totally normal, and plus your biggest concern is being able to surprise SD with the trip. That's not selfish at all

This! Lots of T&Ps for FIL and I definitely understand the trip concern. DH and I are taking the kids to Universal and the Harry Potter world as a surprise and I'd be sooooo upset if we weren't able to take them.

The prayers are working.
FIL does NOT have an infection. The doctor seems to think that they were giving him too much too soon food wise. He had been on clear liquids Saturday night & they moved him up to firm liquids (I think thats what it's called) like pudding and pureed soups and his system just wassn't ready for it yet. The nurses came in this moring & put a "pick" in. It's basically a specialized IV that puts nutrients directly into his blood stream - from what I understand. He's doing well with that so far.
Please keep him in your prayers that he continues to recover well.
Thank you for making me not feel like a selfish witch. I felt so bad for worrying about Disney & you all made me feel so much better. ::HUGS::
