our mother's day craft project

Ava's almost done with the craft project for her grandmothers - tote bags with her handprint!

We decorated both sides of the bags - so she got to make 4 prints, 2 with her right hand and 2 with her left. She loves painting on her hands and then stamping them. She did the layout of the flowers - choosing each color piece and size and how to layer them - and I glued the layers together and then she showed me where to glue it on the bag. The flowers were from a felt pack of pre-cut self adhesive pieces - but i used fabric glue for extra hold. Ava peeled off the backing to help. I did the pot out of felt after i made a template.

We still have little leaves left to add and some butterflies!

here's 2 of the 4 sides

last year, we made hand prints on big painted terracotta cots, plopped in a flowering outdoor plant and painted a heart shaped wooden plant pick and tied a ribbon around it and stuck that into the pot. It was really nice! These are really easy projects to make with your kids for their grandmas!

I keep suggesting to dh that he help her make a hand print project for me!
