she is pregnant, but he doesn't consider her a mother
interesting --
on the radio this morning this girl called and was really upset.
she is 6 1/2 months pregnant with her 1st child and her husband didn't want to buy her a Mothers Day gift because " she isn't a mother since she is still pregnant "
seriously ?
she is incubating a human, much less YOUR child - i'm pretty sure she qualifies as a mother.
.. i would totally kick him in the nads ...

The Sand in My Snow Boots
DH said that last year.
I didn't kick him in the nads, but he got some sort of retaliation. I'm sure the word douchebag was used at some point.
I don't even know that he'll get me anything for Mother's Day this year...I bet he forgets it's on Sunday. Time will tell!
Ali- I think that's the reason Mother's Day falls before Father's Day on the calendar. Women need to know how much effort to put forth for Father's Day so things are even.
I don't consider this to be my first mother's day.
But if Baby A is 10 days early, H will be celebrating father's day.
Kinda off subject, but I got a Mother's Day card from one of my friends with the nicest thing written by her inside. It made me cry.
On topic-I wasn't PG last year at this time. I wouldn't have expected anything, but if I got a card I would have thought it was nice.
I wouldn't have expected anything for Mother's Day if I was pregnant. A card from DH would've been sweet, but not necessarily expected. Now, I don't agree with how this guy handled the situation. DH probably would've gotten slapped if he'd said that to me at 6-1/2 months pregnant.
Amelia is going to be a big sister!
so - for those of you who are pregnant ( right now ) you do not consider yourself a mother ?
i don't understand.

I mean, I am on my way to becoming a mother, but I don't feel I am yet.
Hard to explain. It's just how I feel.
More of a mother-in-training. I know my baby is growing inside of me but I don't think I'll really feel like his mom until I see him on the outside.
I wouldn't turn down a card or dinner from H though...

I doubt anyone will say " oh no, I won't accept your gift, I'm merely pregnant, not a mother "
by accepting dinner or a card you acknowledge that you are considered a mother.
I'm not trying to start anything but like its just strange - my sister was 10 weeks pregnant on Mothers Day 2 years - I bought her a card and little thing of stretch mark lotion -- she loved it.
This. I don't feel like I'm really "mothering" anyone yet, besides doing my best with my nutrition, getting the nursery together, etc. I am a mother at this point, but it's a weird limbo area.
