Teachers - interview question

What do you wear to a job interview? Do you do a suit? or a skirt/ top? or dress?

i have an interview on Monday and it has been 3 years since I interviewed last.

I can't decide if I should pull out the suit, or go for something a little different.

  • Always a suit.

  • Suit for interview.  It's okay to wear something non-suit, but still formal for a sample lesson if asked to give one.

  • Suit.

When I interviewed for my job, it was a position for which I am not endorsed and would require a one-year CAP to teach. I know that the other three people who interviewed for the position were endorsed. I also saw two of the others - neither of whom wore suits. I did. I got the job. I am not a very firm believer in suits.

Suit.  Apparently I was the only applicant who wore a suit out of the 13 who interviewed for my position.  It made me stand out so much that my Assistant Principal commented on it over a year after I was hired.

  • I always wear a suit.  It presents a professional look and attitude to the job.  Good Luck!

  • Always a suit and I'm always flabbergasted when I see applicants who don't.

  • On this board you will hear the "always wear a suit!" matra over and over.

OP, you need to be practical.  Your dress should depend on what you are asked to be doing during the interview.  We have applicants go into the classroom and teach a demo lesson.  When I see women come in wearing a suit with a pencil skirt and pointy heels, and then try to sit on the floor and read a story or teach some kind of arty lesson with glue and paint, it just makes me shake my head.  It gives the impression that you don't know what the job really entails.

Contrary to popular belief, you can be dressed professionally without wearing a suit.

  • for a teaching interview, wear a suit.  definitely.

    A suit. Always a suit.

    This.

When I was interviewing, I wore a suit.  It blew my mind to see teachers interviewing for the same jobs wearing capris and sleeveless shirts.  I get it - it was hot out, but it was for a JOB!  Geesh.

  • I always wear a suit.  I was one of four who interviewed for the position I currently have, and I was the only one who wore one
