Is this a bad name?

H and I both love the name Jackson (H likes Jaxon but I'm not sold on it). Anyway, would be we "those" parents if our boy's name was Jackson? Is that just opening him up to a childhood of being teased about his name? I got called Kelli Smelly (mostly by my siblings, jerks!) and I turned out ok. And really, if a race car driver can be named *** Trickle....our boy name doesn't sound so bad.

This could all be a moot point if we have a girl but it's one of those things that's on my mind.

Re: Is this a bad name?

  • I think Jackson is fine name. I am not a fan of the alternate spelling myself. I can see him now at 25, :"No, it is J A X O N. Yes, my parents are annoying."
  • I agree with the different spelling thing. I'm constantly telling people, Kelli with an i not a y. It is annoying.

And I just noticed the nest blocked the name Diick. Wtf!

  • I really like Jackson, also not a fan of spelling it with an x tho.

For your own safety you might want to take your last name out of this post at some point since these threads get archived...

  • Ditto, no X. The name is cute though! And yes, get your last name out of here!

  • I think maybe I confused things by adding the part about the different spelling. That was more just a side note than anything. I'm worried that kids will call him Jack and together with our last name will sound like jack-off. Am I just overthinking that?

  • I do not think you are overthinking the name issue (jack + the fist part of your last name). That would be a genuine concern of mine. Please dont do it lol.
  • I can't remember your last name at the moment, but I have the same concerns with our last name. If you think kids could refer to Jack -off then dont do it!!

My favorite boys name is Peter... Ill never use it. Our last name is always mistakenly pronounced as wiener. Peter Weiner!!!

  • I think the name is fine.. with either spelling. Kids always get teased for their name, no matter what it is. I remember my cousin Stephanie used to get called Step-on-me. I always got teased for my name.. but it never bothered me. I kinda liked being unique that way. If you like the name, then go for it!

I was called that a few times.  Ha.

  • I like the name Jackson but hate when it's spelled the other way.  Kids are creative and have the ability to tease anyone with any name.  I was called Jack-O-Lantern and my name is Jacqueline.  lol.
