I'm super forgetful.

Scenario 1: Rodgers kept Nate home yesterday because he had a cold and had been running fever. We didn't want to take him to the babysitter in case he got worse because she has a daughter who tends to catch everything. Rodgers just went in to work 3 hours late [ETA: that's when I get home from work]. Today Nate was so much better, so he went to the sitter, and Rodgers went to work on time. I didn't know for sure that's what happened, though, so I called Rodgers when I got off work to see if they were home or if I needed to pick Nate up. He said he was at work, and Nate was at the sitter's. I hung up the phone, forgot the conversation, and proceeded to drive home.

Scenario 2: The program I mainly use at work can tend to run slow at certain times of the day. When it's running slow, it may take 30 seconds to load a page. Between when I click a button and the page loading, I forget what I was going to do on that page.

Scenario 3: I went into the bathroom 3 times the other morning to put deodorant on, and I'm only sure I did it the third time.

I'm just waiting for the day I leave the house without putting pants on.

  • Sounds like the "baby" brain is kicking in.

And I'm sure you won't leave the house without pants.

  • I hate this pregnancy symptoms. I forget everything from big to little stuff and it's just annoying!
  • Lol, my mommy brain is much worse than my pregnancy brain. So when did you realize you had to go get Nate?

This is what I was thinking!

I don't have pregnancy brain too bad yet. Takes me longer to spit out what I want to say sometimes (especially after a long day), but forgetting stuff..not awful yet.

  • Oh, wow!  I don't look forward to that!  Does anyone know what exactly causes pregnancy brain?  I mean obviously being pregnant but how on earth does that effect memory?  I should study that, lol!

  • You may not forget your pants but I have had some times where I've forgotten to put my boob away post feeding or pumping...thankfully I haven't run into anyone before realizing it but I mean seriously.

Well, Rodgers usually keeps the van at home when he stays home, and I drive the Camry. When Rodgers works, he drives the Camry (longer commute, better gas mileage), and I drive the van. The Camry has a clicker to open the gate, but the van just has a swipe card. So, as I was pulling up to the gate, I reached for the clicker, thinking I was in the Camry. Then I realized I was driving the van. I wondered why I didn't leave the van with Rodgers, and *then* I remembered that he had just told me that he did go to work.

I think it's the increased hormones killing off brain cells.

That scenario reminds me of the many times I would take the bus home from campus in college to remember that I drove to campus that day. (Or take the bus out the commuter lot to remember that I rode the bus that day and was therefore on the wrong bus line.) It's just one familiar thing you do that makes you realize you are completely wrong.

This. My mom often tells me that I won't get them back either. Poo.

Seriously though, I think it's just because you have so much other stuff on your mind. But it doesn't happen to everyone!
